We recently joined forces with Davis Food Co-Op in implementing a community wellness program!
First of its kind, Dr Bahadorani has launched a Wellness Series in collaboration with Davis Food Co-Op.

Each session is interactive with plenty of opportunities for creativity and social learning experiences that inspire, motivate, and engage the adult participant. You will gain the confidence and self-efficacy to implement a variety of health and wellness-oriented skills in your life. While each session is meant to build on the previous session(s), each class can be purchased 'a la carte'.

Week 1: Lifestyle Interventions for the Prevention, Management, and Reversal of Chronic Disease: A growing body of scientific evidence demonstrates that lifestyle health behavior change is an essential component in the treatment of chronic disease that can be as effective as medication, but without the risks and unwanted side-effects. Making those lifestyle changes can be challenging for so many reasons. In addition to learning about key lifestyle interventions, you'll learn about goal setting, which will be expanded upon in Week 2.

Week 2: Achieving Optimal Health and Wellness: Between busy schedules, mounds of conflicting information, and everything else life throws at us, trying to improve your health can be a struggle, especially if you feel stuck trying to make progress on your own. In this class, we’ll develop a sense of community as we identify wellness goals and create achievable and sustainable action steps towards those goals.

Week 3: Nutrition for Stress Reduction: What we eat can have a significant impact on our stress levels, as well as our mental and emotional health. This week's class will teach you simple techniques for healthful and delicious meals that support stress reduction, mental health, and overall well being.

Time to get in the kitchen! Put the information you've learned in the first three classes into action by preparing healthy meals alongside Dr. Nasim. Week 4 will focus on the Persian breakfast and ancient traditional techniques for balancing cold and warm characteristics of food for optimal functioning in the human body. In Weeks 5 and 6, we'll explore creative and delicious approaches to nutrition and flavor that aim to keep us healthy throughout winter using local, seasonal ingredients. We’ll also learn how to make homemade decaffeinated teas for soothing after dinner digestion.

Improve your relationship with food. Cooking and eating are wonderful opportunities to make us more conscious of our consumption and increase our enjoyment.

Learn to improve eating habits. Instead of rushing through meals or snacks, or hardly considering where the food is from, how it impacts our bodies, minds and spirits, enhance a fuller experience with more attention to food.

University of California, Davis: Your Health Matters

Dr Bahadorani developed a course for lifestyle health behavior changes. It has been taught at  UC Davis. The course teaches how to change lifestyle health behaviors in a meaningful way that is realistic, consistent, and sustainable to prevent or manage chronic disease and live with optimal wellbeing. It's been enrolled to maximum capacity each quarter and many those who are waitlisted, end up auditing the class. The feedback has been positive, and participants expressed the impact it has had on their health-related values, beliefs, and behaviors.
